Bavarian
Engine Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (German: Bayerische Motoren Werke AG or Bavarian
Motor Works, abbreviated as BMW, which is called BMW in mainland China, and is
generally used in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.Engine manufacturer, Headquartered
in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.
In
addition to selling various cars and motorcycles under the brand name
"BMW", the BMW Group also acquired many foreign automobile companies.
At present, the BMW Group is the owner of three brands, BMW, MINI and
Rolls-Royce. In 2012, the entire BMW Group brand produced a total of 1,845,186
cars and 117,109 motorcycles. BMW often ranks with Germany and Mercedes-Benz as
the top three German luxury car manufacturers. The design of its logo is based
on the emblem of Bavaria, Germany.
The
founder of BMW Karl Friedrich Rapp (Karl Friedrich Rapp) on April 29, 1913,
established a Rapp-Motorenwerke factory using a factory building in the suburbs
of Munich that was originally used to manufacture bicycles, Engaged in the manufacture
of aviation engines. In the same year, Gustav Otto also founded Gustav Otto
Flugmaschinenfabrik (Gustav Otto Flugmaschinenfabrik) nearby. In fact, Gustav
Otto is the famous Nikolaus Otto The son of Nikolaus August Otto, inventor of
the four-stroke gasoline engine.
Gustav
Otto later joint ventured with others and founded the Bavarian Aircraft
Manufacturing Plant on March 7, 1916, and merged the plant he had created for
three years into this new plant. In the same year, Lapp was also funded by
bankers Camillo Castiglioni and Max Friz. The scale was greatly expanded, but
due to incorrect evaluation, excessive expansion led to poor operations, which
led to Pu left sadly on November 14.
His
partner found Austrian financier Franz-Josef Popp to take over the business of
the engine plant, and on July 20, 1917, the factory was renamed Bavaria Engine
Manufacturing Co., Ltd. ( Bayerische Motoren Werke GmbH, abbreviated as BMW),
with Papp as the first president. At the time, during the First World War, BMW,
a supplier of military supplies, set up a large factory near the Oberwiesenfeld
military airport on the outskirts of Munich, and continued to manufacture
military engines for the military until 1918. On August 13, 1918, BMW was
restructured into a joint stock company with publicly listed stocks (BMW AG),
which established the size of the company that will flourish afterwards.
In
1922, BMW merged BFW and became the BMW we are familiar with today. However,
when tracing back the history of the company, the company's official statement
is based on the time of BFW's founding, which is March 7th, 1916 as BMW's
founding day.
BMW’s
first aero engine work was Type IIIa, which was put into production in 1917.
This is a water-cooled in-line six-cylinder engine. It uses a high-altitude
carburetor developed by Fritz, one of the company’s partners. The maximum
output of the engine can also be used in high altitude environments. In 1919,
BMW installed a Type IV in-line six-cylinder engine produced by the factory on
a DFW biplane. It was driven by Franz Zeno Diemer in the Munich Olympic Park (Today,
the location of the BMW headquarters) set a height of 9,760 meters.
Towards
The Four-Wheel Product Field
In
1927, the Eisenach depot in Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany, was authorized by the
Austin depot in the United Kingdom, and began to manufacture the German version
of the famous Austin 7 car model, which was hung on Dixi. Brand sales. The
following year, BMW acquired the plant at a price of 16 million marks, and thus
obtained the production rights of the Dixi 3/15 PS car, becoming the first car
product of the plant. After being modified by BMW, the car was launched as an
improved version of DA2. DA means "Deutsche Ausführung" (made in
Germany). After the debut, it was well received. 18,976 units were sold in a
production period of just three years. Much.
As
for the 3/20 PS that debuted in 1932 (also known as AM 4, Ausführung München 4
Gange, meaning "produced in Munich, four-speed transmission"), it was
the first BMW-made car product. The modified car from Dixi is equipped with an
in-line four-cylinder engine of 782 cc. It has a maximum horsepower output of
20hp / 3500rpm, a top speed of about 80km / h, and was held in Baden-Baden in
the same year. (Concours d'Elegance).
The
BMW 303, which debuted in 1933, is truly the most critical representative car.
It created two traditions that BMW has maintained until today. First, it is BMW’s
first car equipped with an inline six-cylinder engine. Second, the car used the
famous “double kidney” water tank grille for the first time in front of the
car. Kidney styling has also been modified, but the basic tone of the styling
has not changed until today.
BMW
attaches great importance to technical research. In professional media tests,
the BMW engine's horsepower output is often higher than that of the same class,
and then it can maintain excellent refinement and low noise. The professional
evaluation of chassis handling is often better than that of the same class. These
driving funs this is the reason why BMW was later recognized to go hand in hand
with Mercedes-Benz.
After
The War
Eisenacher,
a BMW company in Germany, was operated by Eastern Germany. After the
reunification of Germany and Germany, Opel acquired [Origin Request]. Now BMW
intends to give all cars the color of sports cars, eliminating the difference
between sports cars and cars.
On
October 11, 2018, the BMW Group spent 3.6 billion euros (about 32.6 billion
Hong Kong dollars) (about 29 billion yuan) to increase its 25% stake in the joint
venture company Brilliance BMW formed with Brilliance China Automotive. After
the transaction, the BMW Group's shareholding ratio it will be increased from
the current 50% to 75%. In addition, the contract period of the joint venture
company will be extended from the original 2028 to 2040.
